TMI Books 1,2,4,5.

Okay so I have a tiny problem with TMI. Among the huge fanbase that is TMI, there are several flaws I find in these novels. Now before all the hate piles on, I must say that these are my personal opinions only and not meant to hurt anyone but shed light on a topic I feel needs to be discussed.

So yeah. I don't like TMI. Well, I don't like some of TMI. Books 1, 2, 4 and 5 in particular. Cassandra Clare is an awesome author and can create worlds effectively. However I feel like her writing lacks substance and can only be described as 'barely there' or plastic words. Although books 3 and 6 were phenomenally written and wrapped up nicely, the rest were a jumble of confusion. Is the Clave good or bad? Why does Clary suck at self defence until the last book? Why is Jace a huge douche and why is that 'attractive'? The characters are needless to say, bland and so reminiscent of Harry Potter. Which leads me to my next point.

There has been huge shade thrown at Cassie for plagiarising from her infamous Draco Trilogy which was ALSO plagiarised from sources like The Secret Country and BTVS. (Link for more info below).
Cassie was also allegedly involved in a cyberbullying incident. (Again more info below).
So yeah, as a person Cassie doesn't seem that great and her books don't really add up either.

The plot of TMI is very complicated, lengthy and overdone. Girl meets boy and demons and badass girl and mage and another relationship and siblings and then family drama and then random brother? and then random brother kidnapping supposed non-brother and sucking the life out of him and then killing the kidnapping brother and yay and happiness and marriage. So yeah, it's pretty lengthy. It would have been so easy to tie off the knots at book 3 but yet it was revamped for another 3.

Although Cassandra Clare has potential, it doesn't show in her debut series. Albeit, her TID series is phenomenal and should be read immediately. Now. Now. In conclusion, Cassandra Clare has written a bunch of books that have been praised by most of the YA fanbase. It has its good bits but also its weaknesses that shouldn't be overlooked as it so often is. Thanks ~ J Woo.

  1. I agree!! I currently have COLS on hold right now because I just decided it wasn't creating that spark that reading should give you (that sounded really cheesy) but do you get what I mean?? And some of the description is good but some just shouldn't really be there. And I was just like "okay fuck it, I just don't care anymore" It just got to the point where I kind of became uninteresting.

"Cool Simon's faerie ring lost its function" NOW WHAT?! in some parts it wasn't really moving anywhere. It just felt like there was heaps to keep track of with bits and pieces of the book. Like Simon and Izzy's relationship, Alec and Magnus' IT WAS JUST TOO MUCH.

Plus, Cassie Clare's foreshadowing in TMI was kind of poor that I guessed that that Jace and Clary weren't brothers and sisters a BOOK before it was announced. I was kinda just left there waiting for Cassie to say it.

Should I read the Bane Chronicles??

    So there's my piece 😅
    Ps TID was amazing
